SPMU Removal (Brows)

What is SPMU (Semi-Permanent Makeup Removal)?

SPMU removal is a specialised laser treatment designed to fade or fully remove cosmetic tattooing, including eyebrow microblading. Using advanced Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser technology, the pigment is safely broken down and eliminated from the skin over time.

This non-invasive solution is ideal for those who are unhappy with the shape, colour, or fading results of their SPMU and want to restore a more natural appearance.

Why consider SPMU removal?

There are several common reasons individuals choose to have their semi-permanent makeup removed:

  • Unwanted colour changes (e.g., brows turning blue, grey, red, or green)
  • Asymmetrical or poorly applied results
  • Faded or blurred pigment over time
  • Change in personal preference or style
  • Preparation for a correction or reapplication

How does it work?

The laser emits precise bursts of energy that target pigment particles in the skin without damaging surrounding tissue. This makes it particularly suitable for delicate facial areas like eyebrows. The laser energy fragments the pigment into tiny particles, which are naturally processed and removed by the body’s lymphatic system over the following weeks. Multiple sessions are often needed for optimal results, depending on pigment type, depth, and skin response.

What are the benefits?

  • Safe for delicate facial areas
  • Effective on a wide range of pigment colours
  • Non-invasive with minimal downtime
  • Gradual fading allows for correction or reapplication
  • Minimal risk of scarring or permanent skin damage

Does the treatment hurt?

Most clients describe the sensation as similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin. Discomfort is usually mild to moderate and very brief. Because the eyebrow area is sensitive, you may feel a bit of stinging or warmth during treatment. The procedure is generally very tolerable, even for those with a low pain threshold.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of sessions depends on several factors, including the depth & type of pigment used, the colour of the pigment, skin type & individual healing response, whether the goal is fading for correction or complete removal.

On average, most clients need 3 to 6 treatments spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart. Some may need fewer, while others—especially with older or more stubborn pigment—may require more.

Will I see immediate results?

Some fading may be visible after the first session, but full results develop gradually over time. SPMU removal is a process & results improve with each session.

Does everyone need a consultation & patch test before treatment?

Yes, all laser treatments require a full consultation & patch test before the first treatment can go ahead.

During the consultation we'll discuss your medical history, medications and other influencing factors, to make sure laser is a safe and suitable treatment for your goals.

We will then carry out a patch test to assess your skin sensitivity & response to the laser. This helps determine the appropriate settings for the laser & identify any potential adverse reactions or side effects.

Please allow up to an hour for the initial consultation appointment.
