Q-Switched Nd:YAG Laser

The Derma TR Q-Switched Nd:YAG Laser is an advanced, non-invasive laser treatment device widely used in dermatology and aesthetic medicine. It employs Q-switched Nd:YAG (Neodymium-doped Yttrium Aluminum Garnet) laser technology, known for its high-intensity pulses and ability to target various skin concerns without damaging surrounding tissues.
How does it work?
Lasers fall into various classifications, dependent on the power emitted. These classifications vary from Class I (one, or 1) to Class IV (four, or 4), with this class being the most powerful. Most lasers used in aesthetics and all lasers for tattoo removal are Class IV laser devices. This means they are the most powerful class of laser, increasing the efficiency of the treatments.
The Derma T|R with ND:YAG laser converts light into sound, resulting in a low to no pain treatment for clients, no matter which treatment they are choosing.
The Q-switched Nd:YAG laser operates by emitting short, high-energy pulses of light at specific wavelengths—primarily 1064 nm and 532 nm. These wavelengths are selectively absorbed by pigment particles in the skin, such as melanin and tattoo ink, causing them to fragment into tiny particles. The body's lymphatic system then naturally eliminates these particles over time.
-
1064 nm wavelength: Penetrates deeper into the skin, ideal for treating deeper pigmentation, tattoos, and dermal lesions.
-
532 nm wavelength: Targets superficial pigmentation like sun spots and freckles.
The Q-switched mechanism ensures ultra-short pulses (in nanoseconds), minimising heat buildup and preventing thermal damage to surrounding tissue.
What treatments can it be used for?
-
Skin rejuvenation (collagen stimulation, reducing fine lines and wrinkles)
-
Carbon laser facials ("Hollywood peel" for skin brightening)
- Spider/thread veins (anywhere on the on the body)
- Rosacea
- Non-ablative skin resurfacing
- Tattoo removal (black, blue, green, and red inks)
- SPMU removal
- Toenail fungus
